CoSA's programs and services span a wide range of activities and resources, including in-person meetings, educational webinars, an active awards program, and advocacy efforts at the federal level.

National Coalition for History logo

National Coalition for History (NCH)

NCH is a consortium of more than 50 organizations that advocates on federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting historians, archivists, researchers, teachers, preservationists, museum professionals, genealogists, and other stakeholders. Priority issues include records access, history education, and federal funding for agencies supporting the work of libraries, archives, museums, and schools. CoSA is a member of NCH’s Policy Board.

Society of American Archivists (SAA)

SAA is North America's oldest and largest national professional association dedicated to the needs and interests of archives and archivists. CoSA collaborates with SAA on joint annual meetings, awareness-building and advocacy for the profession, and other projects and services of interest to archivists and the communities we serve.

National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators logo

National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA)

NAGARA promotes public awareness of the work of government archives and records administrators, encourages ongoing education and information exchange among its members to improve professional standards, and advocates on their behalf. CoSA collaborates with NAGARA on annual meetings and advocacy for government archives and records administrators.

National Association of State Chief Information Officers

National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO)

NASCIO provides state CIOs and state members with products and services designed to support the challenging role of the state CIO, stimulate the exchange of information and promote the adoption of IT best practices and innovations. NASCIO and CoSA collaborate on meeting presentations and now, as formal partners on CoSA’s ACCESS project, will develop and share educational materials for CIOs, state archivists, and their staffs.

National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS)

Another of CoSA’s formal ACCESS partners, NASS serves as a medium for the exchange of information between states and fosters cooperation in the development of public policy. The association has key initiatives in the areas of elections and voting, state business services, and state heritage/archives, and shares CoSA’s interests in properly created and managed government records and information.

National Governors Association (NGA)

For many years, CoSA and NGA have collaborated on a best practices manual for governors and their staffs about their archival and records management responsibilities. As a formal ACCESS project partner, NGA and CoSA will update best practices documents and participate in key NGA training activities.

Chief Officers of State Library Agencies logo

Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA)

COSLA provides leadership on issues of common concern and national interest; to further state library agency relationships with federal government and national organizations; and to initiate cooperative action for the improvement of library services to the people of the United States. As a formal ACCESS project partner, COSLA and CoSA will work together to share best practices and advocacy strategies for preservation of digital government information.
