Designed as a workflow for digitizing special collections but applicable in other situations, this workflow is divided into four stages. Templates and examples are provided where applicable. Stages include: I. Planning (project planning, implementation planning, and web development planning); II. Implementation (scanning and quality control, metadata creation and quality control, and technical development); III. Access and Preservation (procedures for publishing digital assets, managing a dedicated program, and procedures for asset preservation and management); IV. Assessment and Evaluation (testing functionality, user feedback, project team feedback, sustainability planning, finalize project documentation, and evaluation and recommendations.
